FEBRUARY 2020: With €2.5 million in turnover in 2020 and 30% growth, Codeo Medical is bringing “made in France” reuse into the French healthcare system

Since its creation, Codeo Medical has made a leading position for itself in the market for reconditioned medical devices in France thanks to an innovative positioning: supporting private and public hospitals and health centers in the purchase of reconditioned equipment and the valorization of their reformed equipment. Supported by French and European players who are increasingly in demand, particularly during this year of health crisis, Codeo Medical achieved a 30% growth in its turnover in 2020 and plans to continue this growth in 2021.

Restoring the nobility of the reuse of medical equipment

Since its creation, Codeo Medical has been proud to offer private and public hospitals and clinics as well as imaging centers a 100% French purchase, recovery and reconditioning offer allowing them to:

  • Promote their refurbished equipment,
  • Complete or renew their fleet with quality old or new generation reconditioned equipment while controlling their budget.

As proof of this success, in 2020, Codeo Medical was approved by GE Healthcare as an official distributor of refurbished and guaranteed GE Healthcare ultrasound scanners to private clinics in France and DROM-COM.

A certification that legitimizes the quality and professionalism of Codeo Medical in the supply of reconditioned equipment and which helps to increase the even wider adoption of reconditioned equipment by French healthcare professionals.

"When we started our business, reconditioned equipment was little known to healthcare professionals in France. Today, thanks to our professionalism and the quality of the equipment and services we offer around second-hand equipment, more and more large healthcare centers are contacting us to help them solve their daily purchasing and reform issues. And this, from the smallest equipment (syringe pump) to the most complex: MRI, operating room, etc." explains Isabelle Grange, Partner and Director of Development at Codeo Medical.

Reconditioned, to meet the challenges of the health crisis

During the health crisis, many hospitals had to deal with a sudden increase in their care capacity at the same time as stock shortages from European manufacturers. Thanks to its network and its French sourcing and reconditioning capacity for medical equipment, Codeo Medical was able to support private and public hospitals, laboratories and imaging centers with the supply of quality reconditioned equipment.

"2020 was a complicated year for healthcare professionals, in France and around the world, and we were mobilized alongside them to enable them to increase their care capacity while controlling their budget and maintaining a homogeneous fleet. If 2020 taught us anything, it is that reconditioned products are more than ever a qualitative response to the purchasing needs of healthcare professionals and that beyond a trend, it is a change in mentality made to last." says Stéphanie Vignon, Partner and Managing Director of Codeo Medical.

Since 2020, Codeo Medical has regularly supported the Semi-private Saint Joseph-Saint Luc Hospital in Lyon in the recovery and uninstallation of its equipment (intervention room) and the purchase of second-hand medical devices, particularly during the first wave of Covid-19 (air humidifiers, operating tables, etc.).

New growth prospects for 2021

The growing demand from private and public hospitals and clinics for reconditioned equipment will make 2021 a new year of growth for Codeo Medical. Codeo Medical plans to increase its sales and technical staff by 25 to 30% and to double its logistics capacity in the Rhône (from 800m² to + 2,000m²) to support the development of its business in France and Europe. Finally, Codeo Medical is continuing its export growth with the opening of a commercial subsidiary in Barcelona (2 FTEs currently in place) which will allow it to support its Spanish customers in the purchase and supply of refurbished medical equipment.
